Taking a long and hot shower
Showering with hot water can dry out your skin. In addition, it can cause redness and itchness. Over time, it can make your skin more prone to fine lines and wrinkles. Instead, stick to lukewarm water!
Not taking your makeup off
This is the worst mistake you can commit, especially if you have dry skin. Makeup restricts your skin from breathing. Not removing it can worsen the issue of dry skin. In fact, it can clog your pores and result in acne. Make sure you cleanse your face to remove all the make-up.
Skipping out on exfoliation
Remember that gentile exfoliation is a necessary part of your weekly skincare routine. If you skip out on exfoliating, it can cause dead skin cells to build up on the surface of your skin and make it difficult for your lotions and moisturizers to do their jobs.
You could choose chemical exfoliators formualted with acids or enzymes, but they can be really harsh for the skin. We recommend using physical and natural exfoliants, as our best-seller : the exfoliating glove from Mongant. A natural way to deeply exfoliate the skin to remove dead skin cells, to make it soft and shiny.

You don’t wear gloves in cold weather
We're not trying to be your mom here, but you really ought to get in the habit of wearing gloves when you go outside. Not because the cold makes you sick (it doesn't), but because the cold air exacerbates dry skin. Engelman says, “The face and hands can be easily susceptible to dryness because they aren’t usually covered, unlike the rest of your body.” What's worse, dry skin cracks more easily, which can be uncomfortable and lead to bleeding (and open cuts are invitations for infection). Keeping skin pliable with a good hydration regimen will make it less likely to crack. Engelman recommends showing extra care to the parts of the body that are more exposed and reapplying often.
We’re not trying to be your mom here, but you really need to think about covering your entire body the better may during cold weather. But why ? The cold air exacerbates dry skin because of a blood circulation issue. When the outside temperature is low, a phenomenon of vasoconstriction occurs, i.e. narrowing of the blood vessels.
More of that, during winter for example, it’s cold outside so you will turn on the heat, which will reduce the humidity in the room ; causing dry skin.
This is why we recommend showing extra care to the parts of the body that are more exposed and reapplying often.
You’re not drinking enough
It might sound too simple to be true, but where exactly did you think your skin was getting the water it needs to stay hydrated? “Proper hydration with water is important to keep fluid moving efficiently through the capillaries,” says Engelman. “It’s easier to get dehydrated when we are not making it a priority, or when it’s cold outside and water is evaporating faster.”
